The first part of the printed version of Volume 30 of Metamorphosis, for the year 2019, consists of 72 pages and contains 4 editorial pages and 12 articles and notes published on the website of Metamorphosis,

The Metamorphosis publications featured in the first part of Volume 30 include four taxonomic articles in which descriptions of one new genus and seven new species for Afrotropical Lepidoptera are given. A new species of Leptomyrina is described by Bayliss et al.; a new genus in Eriocottidae containing a new species is described by Mey; four new species of Crambidae are described by Maes; and a new species of Thestor is described by Pringle & Heath. There are two articles on the butterfly fauna of the Cape Verde Islands by Tennent and Russell; new observations of the rare Hypolimnas aubergeri in West Africa by Sáfián and Takano; a description of unusual behaviour by Baliochila aslanga by van Noort and Moll; and Grehan et al. describe the specialised scales found on the wings of Leto venus. Finally there is an article summarising the findings of the BioGaps project by Edge and Mecenero.
